Privacy Policy

This policy describes the measurement, session-replay and advertising code this site actually runs. The public contact is [email protected].

I checked the built HTML, the loader in src/components/ThirdParties.astro and the requests the page makes. Google Analytics 4, Microsoft Clarity and Adsterra start on the first page view; the notice is how you withdraw, not a gate in front of them.

Who is responsible

Chop A Forest Guide publishes chopaforest.com. Email [email protected] for access, correction, deletion, or objection requests. We do not run a separate postal address.

What loads, and when

Measurement, session replay and advertising load by default, including for a first visit with no stored choice. The notice appears until you choose OK or Reject; merely visiting does not save an affirmative choice. Press Reject to record denied for 180 days and reload the page without the three tracking providers. Cookie settings reopens the notice; pressing OK there enables them again. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track also disable these providers before loading.

First-party keys are set by this site. The other names are the ones the providers document; a provider can add or rename a key, so treat its own policy as authoritative.

Default behavior and your choices

This site uses default-on measurement, replay and advertising. The initial Google Consent Mode signals are ad_storage, ad_user_data and ad_personalization denied, with analytics_storage granted; ads_data_redaction is enabled before configuration. OK updates the Google signals to granted. Reject sets all four to denied and reloads without the provider scripts. Loading by default is not evidence that you explicitly consented. Cookie settings is available in the footer on every page.

Provider opt-outs are available through Google Ads Settings and the Adsterra privacy policy. Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track is treated as Reject before any tracking provider is requested.

You may ask us for access to, correction of, or deletion of the consent record, and object to processing, by emailing [email protected]. You can also complain to your local data-protection authority. We keep the consent record for 180 days; the providers keep their own data under their policies.

Provider policies

YouTube, if you press Play, receives the request under Google’s own policy. Closing the page ends that embed. We do not receive a copy of your YouTube account.

Changes to this policy show up on this page with a new date. The current date is 24 October 2026. Cookie settings, /cookies/ and /cookie-policy/ redirect here.

Questions

Do advertising partners receive data?

Yes. Adsterra and its demand partners can collect request and device data to deliver and measure advertising. Use Reject to stop these scripts; consult their policies for their use of that data.

How do I turn analytics and ads off?

Press Reject on the notice, or Cookie settings in the footer, then Reject. Global Privacy Control is treated as Reject.

How long do you keep the choice?

180 days in localStorage. After expiry the site returns to its default-on behavior and shows the notice again, without automatically recording an OK choice.

Does Reject stop scripts that already loaded?

It removes the ad placements, denies the Google and Clarity storage signals, then reloads so previously loaded code is unloaded. The new document requests none of the three tracking providers. Requests sent before Reject cannot be recalled.
